Evaluation

  • Residents are evaluated by peers, faculty, and fellows during their rotations.  Evaluations are compiled, along with other performance data, in a collective New Innovations portfolio and reviewed on a quarterly basis with the resident's core advisor.
  • Likewise, residents also have the opportunity to evaluate their rotations, faculty, fellows, and peers at the conclusion of each two-week block.  Program Leadership is dedicated to continually enhancing the Program, so annual feedback about the residency program is also required.
  • Residents are evaluated annually in 21 internal medicine and 22 pediatric milestones based on the six ACGME Core Competencies: 1) Patient Care; 2) Medical Knowledge; 3) Practice Based Learning and Improvement; 4) Systems Based Practice; 5) Professionalism; and, 6) Interpersonal Skills and Communication.
  • The Program-appointed Clinical Competency Committee meets on a bi-annual basis to review the progress of each resident.  They make recommendations regarding promotion, counseling, remediation, probation or dismissal from the program.
